Pony Club members from across the United Kingdom came to Offchurch Bury in Warwickshire to compete in the 2026 Pony Club Polocross Championships and were treated to two days of glorious sunshine and some excellent play on well prepared pitches, despite the lack of rain in recent months.
Members of all ages and abilities battled it out over the two days as they tried to win the national titles in Minis, Juniors and Seniors. There were lots of members attending their first ever Championships and 12 of the Pony Club’s 19 areas were represented.
There were a number of teams from the south west of the UK and it was the Minis team on the Area 16 that won the Novice Minis title, with a combined team from three Branches (the North Warwickshire, the Warwickshire and the Burghley) finishing second, with another mied team of the Romney Marsh, Walpole & District and Essex Hunt North in third and an Area 9 team in fourth. Wilfred Brown’s pony Buddy won The Galaxy Memorial Trophy for the best Minis Pony.

The Novice Junior grade saw its biggest entry for many years with eight sections competing. The Mixed team from Tanatside, Grove and the Essex and Suffolk Branches won a close fought final against Area 8 to claim victory, with Area 3 (who were one of a number of teams at their first Championships) claiming third place after a narrow win against South Shropshire and Devon in their final match.
The Open Juniors grade ended with a win for the combined South Shropshire and Essex and Suffolk as they beat teams made up of members from the Burghley, Blankney and Warwickshire and an Area 8 team.

Area 2 claimed a win in the Novice Seniors grade, overcoming a mixed team from North Down, Sinnington and Suffolk on goal difference, with an Area 16 team, who again were at their first Championships, in third place.
Area 10 lifted the Charles Mason Trophy for the Open Seniors competition with Area 8 close behind them in second spot on the podium, with Flint and Denbigh third and a combined South Shropshire and Hurworth team fourth.

Flint and Denbigh did lift the Malden Trophy which is awarded for the most successful Branch or Centre based on averaged results across all the grades, with South Devon Moorland close behind them.
Overall it was a brilliant two days of competition and fun and we are already looking forwards to doing it all again next year!
